Replacing a mixer when it’s behind a tiled wall means cutting the tile — there’s no way around it. Cartridge alone wasn’t accessible, so we cut out the tile, swapped the mixer, tested for leaks, then sealed the tile back in place.
The Process
1️⃣ Cutting the Tile
Couldn’t remove the cartridge without access. Cut out the tile to get to the mixer properly.
2️⃣ Replacing the Mixer
Pulled out the old mixer, fitted the new one, and test-fitted everything back in to make sure it sat correctly.
3️⃣ Leak Check Before Closing Up
Before putting the tile back, ran a lot of water through and checked thoroughly for any leaks. All clear.
4️⃣ Sealing the Tile Back
Taped the tile back temporarily with silicone. Advised the client not to use the water until the silicone was completely dry.
