Rough-In Day — Hot & Cold + Suspended Drains for 2 Bathrooms
By Housecare Plumbing
On site today doing the full rough-in for 2 bathrooms. Suspended drains, hot and cold supply lines, all the wet areas set up before the walls close in.
Looks a bit messy mid-job — but we’re getting there.
What’s Getting Roughed In Today
- Two full bathrooms on this one:
- Bathroom 1
- Shower, Toilet, Basin
- Bathroom 2
- Shower, Bathtub, Basin, Toilet
Every outlet positioned, every fall set correctly on the suspended drains.
Hot & Cold Rough-In
Today’s focus was the hot and cold supply lines running to both bathrooms. One thing that has to be right at this stage — the mixer wall backing. Timber nogging needs to sit at exactly the right depth so the mixer lines up flush once the tiles go on.
On this job: timber set back 35mm. Spot on.
Get that wrong and you’re chasing the wall or the mixer sits proud of the tile. Neither is a good look.
Why Suspended Drains?
When there’s no slab to core into, drains are suspended underneath — hung and bracketed to fall correctly toward the stack. Every drain has to have the right fall. Too flat and it won’t clear. Too steep and you lose the water seal in the trap.
Looks simple. Has to be done properly.
